This technology was just a science fiction before, but now it's really possible to run a car using electricity! As what its name suggests, an electric car is run by batteries or fuel cells instead of diesel or gasoline. Car manufacturers make use of the lithium-ion battery technology to run a car. Basically, an electric car has an electric motor and battery so that it can be recharged. The electric motor is controlled using the battery.

Since it is operated by electricity, the components of an electric car is different from normal cars. An electric-powered vehicle doesn't burn any fuel, hence, it doesn't emit gases that are harmful to the environment. It also doesn't need an air filter or motor oil change anymore. The muffler, catalytic converter, tailpipe, and gas tank are also not included in the set-up of an electric car. The clutch assembly is removed which makes the manual transmission looks like an automatic transmission.
